Dive at Las Coloradas
Las Coloradas is a diverse and accessible dive site just 10 minutes by boat from Dive College Lanzarote in Playa Blanca. This location offers a mix of volcanic rock formations, small caves, and rich marine life. Every Monday at 09:30, we organize a boat dive here – ideal for divers interested in exploring both topography and sea life.
The dive begins on a shallow plateau at around 12 meters and gently slopes down to a maximum depth of 17 meters. With great visibility and moderate depth, this site is suitable for both beginner and advanced divers. Among the lava rocks, you’ll often spot trumpetfish, barracudas, moray eels, and cuttlefish. Rays can be seen here throughout the year, while angel sharks are usually encountered in the winter months, hiding in the sand or beneath the rocks.
One of the highlights of Las Coloradas is its natural overhangs and small caves. These formations, created by ancient lava flows, offer safe shelter for lobsters, scorpionfish, and occasionally a resting octopus. Although the caves are compact, there is always enough ambient light, making it a great introduction to enclosed underwater environments.
The short boat ride from Dive College makes this dive not only easily accessible but also convenient to combine with other activities later in the day. The reef’s position also provides shelter from currents, ensuring calm conditions even when the surface is a bit choppy.
