Diving Punta Berrugo – boat dive from Playa Blanca
Punta Berrugo is an exciting dive site just a 10-minute boat ride from Dive College in Playa Blanca. This reef and cave dive reaches a maximum depth of 18 meters and offers a rich underwater landscape that showcases the best of Lanzarote’s marine life and volcanic terrain.
The dive begins along a sloping reef made of volcanic rock, typical of the island’s southern coastline. Visibility is usually excellent, and the layout of the site allows for a relaxed yet engaging exploration. One of the standout features is a small cave carved into the reef wall. While compact in size, it adds variety and character to the dive, often hosting moray eels and other small reef creatures.
Marine life at Punta Berrugo is diverse and abundant. Divers regularly encounter moray eels nestled in rock crevices and rays resting quietly on sandy patches. Barracuda can sometimes be seen cruising above the reef, and schools of bream move together in large, shimmering formations. With some luck, you might even spot an Angelshark lying camouflaged on the seabed—a memorable sight for any diver.
The dive conditions are generally calm, with minimal current, making it a comfortable and rewarding site to explore. The combination of reef structure, interesting topography, and varied marine life makes Punta Berrugo a favorite among local guides and returning divers.
Scheduled for Tuesday mornings at 09:30, this dive offers easy logistics, short boat travel, and a unique glimpse into the underwater world off Playa Blanca. If you’re looking to add a scenic and life-rich dive to your Lanzarote diving itinerary, Punta Berrugo is a site not to miss.
